The Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD)

WSD is a Mumbai-based animal welfare NGO majorly carrying out the Animal Birth Control Programme of sterilising and vaccinating street dogs. It was established in 1985 and till date, it has sterilised more than 56,500 street dogs and impacted the lives of 1,60,000 animals.
It was started with the objective of eradicating rabies from Mumbai, controlling the street dog population in a humane and scientific way, educating and sensitising people towards strays and promoting the adoption of Indian street dogs to ensure a peaceful co-existence between humans and street dogs.
